The former MD of Marine Harvest Scotland is currently seeking feedback from the industry.

A most excellent adventure

Alan Sutherland has sent out letters to key stakeholders in Scottish aquaculture this week, as he seeks to gather feedback on “whether or not the Scottish aquaculture industry needs / wants a Scottish Aquaculture Centre of Excellence (CoE) and, if so, what such a CoE should look like and what its priorities would be”.

The former MD of Marine Harvest is leading the scoping study on behalf of the Scottish Aquaculture Innovation Centre (SAIC) and he told Fish Farming Expert that he is keen reach as many people as possible, in order to ensure involvement from all interested parties.

As a result, he has asked that all relevant organisations have the “opportunity to have your views, comments and opinions included in the scoping study”. And to ensure a wide range of respondents he is keen that all those who wish to air their opinions should contact him via alan@agsutherland.co.uk or on 07501 823988.

The scoping study was initially launched at Aquaculture UK at the end of May and Alan, who has been in the industry for 34 years, believes that such a Centre could benefit the industry by “helping to develop a business plan to help grow the industry”.
