The latest agreement means the fish farmer’s yellowtail kingfish will be available in stores throughout France, starting this month.

Auchan is one of the five largest supermarket and hypermarket chains in France. It is present in 13 countries and runs all types of food trade formats - hypermarkets, supermarkets, convenience stores, click-and collect and e-commerce - with 1,985 points of sale.

It will offer kingfish as whole fish.

Netherlands and US

The Kingfish Company also sells its fish through Albert Heijn, the largest store chain in The Netherlands, and Whole Foods Market in the United States.

The company grows yellowtail in a 1,500-tonne capacity recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) facility in Zeeland, and is expanding capacity to 3,500 tonnes.

It is also pursuing permission to build an 8,500-tonne kingfish RAS in the eastern US state of Maine.
