After Scottish salmon farmers claimed that Norwegian salmon was sold below production price, the EU introduced a minimum price on Norwegian salmon in January 2006. Norway took the case to the WTO, which have now finished its investigation into the case. The report is still not public, but according to what NRK knows, the WTO will side with Norway in the conflict with the EU. WTO has found that the foundation, of which the EU based their investigation into the dumping, was wrong. The WTO regulations also demands that the EU must prove that dumping of Norwegain salmon has occured and that this dumping harmed the competitors. The EU is supposed to have based their actions only on an analysis of the economy of five Scottish fish farmers who had complained about the issue to the EU. The WTO panel also believe that the EU have made mistakes when they estimated the dumping margins of the Norwegian fish farmers and the processing industry and when deciding the minimum price. The report will be made public later this autumn, NRK writes
