Worlds largest well boat delivered
The vessel has incorporated technology that prevents spreading of disease. The total value of the contract exceeds 130 million NOK and includes an option for further vessels of the same type. The vessel can reach speeds of nearly 15 knots and has the latest of technology. It can load at 250 tons of salmon per hour and grade about 100 ton per hour. It features movable bulkheads, pressure loading and unloading system, a huge double vacuum pump from Tendos, a laboratory, counting equipment from Aquascan and new and innovative equipment for disinfecting the vessel and effluent water. - The Norwegian Veterinary Institute has, subject to field trials approved a new and innovative UV system capable of treating the effluent water. “This will go a long way towards eliminate the potential risk for spreading of pathogens” says technical director and joint owner, Reidar Sandøy. The Kristiansund based company Redox has delivered the UV system, an ozone system designed for disinfecting the vessel between trips, and a brand new automatic tank cleaning system. “Perhaps the most important of all is the new automatic tank cleaning system” says Reidar Sandøy. It is an automatic four step mechanical process that cleans and disinfects the wells. It also tracks the process right down to the amount and type of chemical used and is integrated into the ships automatic log. The total log fits well with the companies developing quality assurance goals, which also features a computer based database with automatic data replication to the head office. The Ålesund based company Satpool has developed a total Ship Management Software Solution (PreMaster) based on the strict requirements developed for the offshore North Sea Oil Industry. Rostein now has seven ultra modern well boats all built since year 2000, with a total capacity of 8400 m3 making it one of the leading companies in the world.
