World Seafood Congress gains momentum
Both are backing the week-long event, which is being held in Grimsby in September, to show their dedication to supporting sustainable fishing practice, underpinned by their ongoing commitment to encourage consumers to eat more seafood, according to the Grimsby Telegraph.
Both organisations have provided specialist speakers. On day one, Simon Smith, managing director at Grimsby-based Icelandic Seachill, will talk about bringing new consumers into the fish category.
Hannah MacIntyre, fish and aquaculture manager at Marks & Spencer, will address delegates on the second day, analysing the fishing trade from the perspective of a major retailer.
The congress brings together a global audience of seafood processors and importers, academia, public and private organisations, fish inspectors and government. Each day will see discussions in trading initiatives and developments in the seafood sector and the outlooks of different countries will be explored.
