Trout producer involved in fourth escape incident this year

It was 197 (190g) rainbow trout that escaped from Dawnfresh Farming’ s freshwater site - Loch Tay Fish Farm - in Kinross on the 10 August this year. The company said the breach of containment was caused by a hole in the net, but the reason for the hole was unknown, according to data from the Scottish Government.
Dawnfresh is the UK's largest trout producer. It supplies fish to UK's major retailers, the foodservice sector and specialist fishmongers. Its fish are predominately reared in the Scottish Lochs and spring fed ponds.
So far in 2009, 8068 rainbow trout have escaped from four different sites owned by the company.

Earlier this month, conservation groups were outraged after 37,000 juvenile salmon escaped from a farm on Mull.
