Strong increase for Norwegian seafood export
The August figures for the seafood export totalled at 4.7 billion NOK. This is 784 million or 20 percent more than the same month last year. For the first eight months this year the total value from seafood export landed at NOK 36.1 billion, an increase of 3.6 billion NOK or 11 per cent, according to figures from the Norwegian Seafood Council. - Reduced volumes and increasing demand for salmon and trout, are the main drivers behind continuing high salmon prices. This explains the growth in value of seafood exports, says director Egil Ove Sundheim at Norwegian Seafood Council. Increases in salmon exports Salmon export rose by 31 % in August comapred to August last year. The average price for whole fresh Norwegian salmon in August was 41.45 NOK/kilo compared to an average of 28.35 NOK/kilo in August 2012. France , Poland and Russia, the biggest buyers of salmon from Norway . Trout exports increased by 50 million or 31 percent to NOK 214 million in August.
