Sølvtrans enters agreement with Marine Harvest

The vessel is under construction at the Spanish shipyard Astilleros Zamakona and is scheduled to be delivered in June 2013.

Ronja Polaris will have a capacity of 3000 m3, and is arranged for transporting up to 450 tonnes of live fish. The vessel will be "state-of-the-art" when it comes to technology and environmentally friendly solutions. The vessel will be fully equipped for transport in a closed system that does not discharge anything to the sea, and is therefore efficient when it comes to preventing transfer of infections between fish farms. Ronja Polaris will be the first wellboat that filters the water through a 150 my filter. This prevents the penetration of lice and its eggs, and is thus very important in the combat of salmon lice.

Marine Harvest Norway extends the existing agreement for the vessel Ronja Atlantic, until Ronja Polaris is ready for commencing operations. The agreement for Ronja Atlantic originally expired on 31 December 2012.

Also, Marine Harvest Norway has entered into a new agreement for further hire of the vessel Ronja Superior. The agreement is valid for three years, with an option to extend for further two years, and is valid from the expiration of the existing agreement on 31 December 2013.

«We are proud to be chosen by Marine Harvest again and we are very pleased with the new contracts," says CEO of Sølvtrans, Roger Halsebakk.
