Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards shortlist announced

 Reading like a menu of the finest Scottish cuisine, companies from every area of the food and drink industry are represented. The winners of the prestigious awards will be unveiled at the annual awards ceremony on Thursday 24 May at the Doubletree by Hilton Dunblane Hydro Hotel. The awards are jointly organised by the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland and Scotland Food & Drink. This year’s title sponsor is ASDA. Michael Mccallion, local buying manager for Scotland at ASDA commented: “The shortlist represents the best of what Scotland’s food and drink industry has to offer and as a retailer it is exciting to see companies we support succeed and also learn more about new products which may appeal to our customers.  The sheer breadth of products and businesses present on the shortlist is testament to Scotland’s well deserved reputation for producing delicious local food and drink.”

 The shortlist for the fish category include:

-St James’ Smokehouse - St James Scotch Reserve Finest Oak Hot Smoked Scottish Salmon, Original.

- Loch Duart Ltd - Loch Duart Oak Roasted Flaky Salmon, Loch Duart Oak Smoked Salmon, Loch Duart Hot Smoked Salmon with Honey & Thyme - St James’ Smokehouse  - Oak Smoked Scottish Salmon Original / Scottish Smoked Salmon with Scottish Gin & Zested Lemon/ Scottish Smoked Salmon with Bladnoch Single Malt Whisky & Honey.

 St James’ Smokehouse is also nominated in the Food Service Product of the Year category for its St James Scotch Reserve Finest Oak Hot Smoked Scottish,.

In addition, Gigha Halibut Ltd’s Gigha Smoked Halibut is shortlisted for the New Product Marketing award. Also, The Ethical Shellfish Company is one of two nominees in the Environmental Sustainability category.

Still to be announced is the shortlist for the Young Talent Awards.
