
Salmonids harvested increased by 41.2 percent up to August
The amount of harvested Atlantic salmon up to August was 255,719 tonnes, showing a 59.1 percent increase if compared with the 160,757 tonnes harvested in the same period of 2011. The figures for Rainbow trout showed a 21.8 percent increase if compared to the 143,642 tonnes harvested in the previous year; and the Coho salmon augmented from 39,970 tonnes in 2011 to 52,397 tonnes this year, achieving a 31.1 percent increase.
Regarding local roe production, Chile had an inventory stock of 568.1 million eggs in the eight month of this year, meanwhile, roe imports totalized 82.2 million, separated in 58.9 per cent of Rainbow trout eggs and 41.1 per cent of Atlantic salmon eggs.
