Salmon stalwart steps down

Nick Joy has cited a number of reasons – from health, to family life and the wish to pursue other opportunities – and the company says it owes him a great deal after 15 years at the helm.

Chairman, Dr Andrew Barbour, reflected: “Nick’s enthusiasm and creativity has made the company grow, win many awards and gain much recognition. His vision and determination have shaped the success of the company as it is today. Nick will leave a lasting legacy and we are taking our time to find just the right the person to take over the reins, someone who appreciates our unique style and has the energy and drive to continue to lead the business with our established and experienced team.

“With Loch Duart passing its fifteenth birthday in August 2014 we can all look back on the influence that Nick has had on our formation and development. Nick has agreed to stay in his current role till March next year, from which time he will move to the role of Technical Director, looking after the policies and principles of Loch Duart and helping to develop new and better farming practices.”  

Nick said: “It has been an amazing 15 years and I don’t regret a day of it. Thank you to all those that have worked with me. It has been, and remains, a constant source of pride that we have achieved what we have. I have been very lucky to work with people of such integrity and commitment. I am also delighted to add that you haven’t seen the last of me!”
