
Salmon harvests increased 53% up to April
A comparison of results itemized by species shows a 94.4 percent increase in the Atlantic salmon harvests from 47,107 tonnes to 91,566 tonnes; a 31.1 percent increase in the Rainbow trout harvests to 66,085 tonnes; and a 23.6 percent increase in the Coho salmon harvests to 38,129 tonnes.
Regarding local roe production, Chile had an inventory stock of 148.5 million eggs in the fourth month of this year: 62.7 per cent of Atlantic salmon eggs, 18.4 percent of Rainbow trout eggs and 18.8 percent of Coho salmon eggs. Meanwhile, roe imports totalized 55 million up to April 2012, separated in 59 per cent of Rainbow trout eggs and 41 per cent of Atlantic salmon eggs.
