
Salmon harvests increased 52% up to May
A comparison of results itemized by species shows an 88.9 percent increase in the Atlantic salmon harvests from 62,294 tonnes to 117,677 tonnes; a 27.3 percent increase in the Rainbow trout harvests to 76,205 tonnes; and a 23.7 percent increase in the Coho salmon harvests to 38,148 tonnes.
Regarding local roe production, Chile had an inventory stock of 312.5 million eggs in the fifth month of this year: 53 per cent of Atlantic salmon eggs, 7.2 percent of Rainbow trout eggs and 39.8 percent of Coho salmon eggs. Meanwhile, roe imports totalized 55 million up to May 2012, separated in 59 per cent of Rainbow trout eggs and 41 per cent of Atlantic salmon eggs.
