Salmon harvests increased 45% up to March

A comparison of results itemized by species shows a 81.1 per cent increase in the Atlantic salmon harvests from 35,288 tonnes to 63,901 tonnes; a 33.6 per cent increase in the Rainbow trout harvests to 53,346 tonnes; and a 18.7 per cent increase in the Coho salmon harvests to 36,576 tonnes.

Regarding local roe production, Chile had an inventory stock of 125.4 million eggs in the third month of this year: 72.9 per cent of Atlantic salmon eggs, 26.4 percent of Rainbow trout eggs and 0.7 percent of Coho salmon eggs. Meanwhile, roe imports totalized 51.3 million up to March 2012, separated in 60.5 per cent of Rainbow trout eggs and 39.5 per cent of Atlantic salmon eggs.
