
Salmon harvests increased 37% up to February

A comparison of results itemized by species shows a 92.6 percent increase in the Atlantic salmon harvests from 18,576 tonnes to 35,778 tonnes; a 39.3 percent increase in the Rainbow trout harvests to 35,642 tonnes; and a 1.1 percent increase in the Coho salmon harvests to 30,295 tonnes.
Regarding local roe production, Chile had an inventory stock of 96.9 million eggs in the second month of this year: 76.3 percent of Atlantic salmon eggs, 23.4 percent of Rainbow trout eggs and 0.3 percent of Yellowtail kingfish eggs. Meanwhile, roe imports totalized 32.5 million up to February 2012, separated in 74 percent of Rainbow trout eggs and 26 percent of Atlantic salmon eggs.
