Salmon harvests increased 30% up to November 2012

A comparison of results itemized by species shows an 53.4 percent increase in the Atlantic salmon harvests from 238,197 tonnes to 365,392 tonnes; a 16.8 percent increase in the Rainbow trout harvests to 239,789 tonnes; and a 6.0 percent increase in the Coho salmon harvests to 120,935 tonnes. 

Regarding local roe production, Chile produced 23 million eggs in the eleventh month of 2012: 42.7 per cent of Atlantic salmon eggs and 57.3 percent of Rainbow trout eggs. The accumulated Chilean roe production in the first eleven months of 2012 was of 703.6 million eggs. 

Meanwhile, roe imports totalized 72.5 million up to November 2012, separated in 56.6 per cent of Rainbow trout eggs and 43.4 per cent of Atlantic salmon eggs.
