
Salmon harvests increased 1% up to November
A comparison of results itemized by species shows a 50.3% increase in the Atlantic salmon harvests from 111,007 tonnes to 166,822 tonnes; a -30.3% decrease in the Rainbow trout harvests to 138.818 tonnes; and a 12.3% increase in the Coho salmon harvests to 85.770 tonnes.
Regarding local roe production, Chile had an inventory stock of 125.2 million eggs up to November 2011: 73.9% of Atlantic salmon eggs, 23.8% of Rainbow trout eggs and 2.3% of Coho salmon eggs. Meanwhile, roe imports totalized 93.7 million up to November, separated in 54.1% of Rainbow trout eggs and 45.9 % of Atlantic salmon eggs.
