
Salmon harvests increased 1% in January
A comparison of results itemized by species shows a 38.0 percent increase in the Atlantic salmon harvests from 10,673 tonnes to 14,732 tonnes; a 30.1 percent increase in the Rainbow trout harvests to 15,567 tonnes; and a -27,8 percent decrease in the Coho salmon harvests to 18,873 tonnes.
Regarding local roe production, Chile had an inventory stock of 185.6 million eggs in the first month of this year: 81.3 percent of Atlantic salmon eggs, 18.5 percent of Rainbow trout eggs and 0.2 percent of Yellowtail kingfish eggs. Meanwhile, roe imports totalized 18.3 million in January 2012, separated in 76 percent of Rainbow trout eggs and 24 percent of Atlantic salmon eggs.
