
Salmon harvests decreased 53% as of August
A comparison of results itemized by specie shows a 61.4% decrease in the Atlantic salmon harvests from 161,215 tonnes to 62,221 tonnes; a 32.1% drop in the Rainbow trout harvests down to 72,492 tonnes; and a 72.1% decrease in the Coho salmon harvests down to 13,983 tonnes.
Regarding to local roe stocks, they totalized 173.1 million units in August 2010: 64.9% of Atlantic salmon eggs, 28.2% of Rainbow trout, 6.5% eggs of Coho salmon eggs and 0.3% of King salmon eggs. Meanwhile, roe imports totalized 73.1 million as of August, separated in 31.8% of Atlantic salmon eggs and 68.2% of Rainbow trout eggs.
