
Salmon harvests decreased 35% as of November
According to figures submitted by the Chilean Fisheries Under-Secretariat (Subpesca), a comparison of results itemized by specie shows a 51.4% decrease in the Atlantic salmon harvests from 193,798 tonnes to 94,267 tonnes; a 21.0% drop in the Rainbow trout harvests down to 114,524 tonnes; and a 51.0% decrease in the Coho salmon harvests down to 58,312 tonnes.
Regarding to local roe stocks, they totalized 45.2 million units in November 2010: 83.4% of Atlantic salmon eggs and 16.6% of Rainbow trout eggs. Meanwhile, roe imports totalized 84.1 million as of November, separated in 40.7% of Atlantic salmon eggs and 59.3% of Rainbow trout eggs.
