Salmon harvests decreased 1% up to September
A comparison of results itemized by specie shows a 51.7% increase in the Atlantic salmon harvests from 86,154 tonnes to 130,668 tonnes; a -39.1% decrease in the Rainbow trout harvests to 91,188 tonnes; and a 55.4% increase in the Coho salmon harvests to 33,673 tonnes.
Regarding local roe production, Chile has produced 207.3 million eggs up to September 2011: 70.8% of Atlantic salmon eggs, 27.1% of Rainbow trout eggs and 2.1% of Coho salmon eggs. Meanwhile, roe imports totalized 85.5 million up to September, separated in 54.6% of Rainbow trout eggs and 43.6 % of Atlantic salmon eggs.
