Christian Pérez According to the financial journal Estrategia, Yngve Myhre was in Chile last Thursday -along with some other Salmar executives, in preliminary negotiations to enter the Chilean salmon industry given the company's economic strength and capabilities to enter into mergers and acquisitions. Sources in the local stock market said that Salmar would be interested in purchasing Invermar, local salmon company financially complicated after its failed sale to Cooke Aquaculture. In fact, its share price unexpectedly rose last week, after a long season of consecutive decreases. Salmar would be also interested in the Pescanova salmon assets in Chile, whose disposal is responsibility of the bankruptcy trustee Herman Chadwick. This process is expected to be stopped by Pescanova with the support of its creditor banks.
