
Sales of Invertec decreased by 13% in 2010
The company explained in a report published by the Chilean Securities and Insurance Supervisor or SVS that this reduced sales were caused by a decline in their salmon harvest volumes in 2010, which were 18.66% lower than in 2009. Moreover, the salmon farming division of Invertec recorded sales for USD 45.56 million in the past year, representing a downfall of 17.20% compared to 2009 (USD 55.03 million).
Invertec reported harvests for 6,162 tonnes of Atlantic salmon in 2010 compared to 8,554 tonnes harvested in the previous year; 854 tonnes of Coho salmon compared to 5,339 tonnes in 2009; and 4,285 tonnes of Rainbow trout compared to zero in 2009.
Meanwhile, the company said that the sanitary conditions in its farming sites were optimal in 2010, experiencing low mortality rates in both, freshwater and sea water.
Invertec also posted an accumulated mortality rate in Atlantic salmon sites at 6.3% in 2010, compared to 20.1% in 2009; at 17.2% in Rainbow trout sites, compared to 18.6% in 2009; and at 3.1% in Coho salmon sites, compared to 10.7% in 2009.
