No Catch assets sale continues
A sudden change of mind by the Norwegian authorities has allowed the sale of 1.8 million cod juveniles from the hatchery and sea cages, to be made to the Norwegian organic cod and salmon producer Villa Cod Farm, the local newspaper Shetland Times reports.
However, according to the newspaper, No Catch’s cod hatchery is still due to be closed. A spokesman for Grant Thornton told the newspaper that the remaining 12 workers would go when the operation shuts down in about six weeks.
No Catch’s remaining stock of maturing cod continues to be managed by the administrators and sold as it reaches marketable size. The spokesman told Shetland Times that the fish might be sold to an individual company, although no final deal has been done yet.
The only other remaining assets of the former Johnson Seafarms business remaining unsold are the mussel farms.
