A correction in the “Editor’s Note” section of the New York Times yesterday clarified that the article published on March 27, regarding the ISA virus in Chile, “… should have noted that Marine Harvest and SalmonChile deny that they use hormones or that the pigments they use pose any risk to consumers.” (See: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/13/pageoneplus/corrections.html?ex=1368417600&en=3943d822864c1220&ei=5124&partner=permalink&exprod=permalink) According to a press release from Aqua.cl, César Barros, president of the Association of Salmon Producers in Chile, SalmonChile states, “Justice has been made for an industry that was unjustly and falsely attacked. This demonstration speaks of the seriousness of the journalism of the NYT and its editors. It is a direct response to all those who took advantage of the article’s misinformation in an attempt to damage our industry and our country’s image abroad.”
