Meeting the USA-challange
The biggest supplier of salmon to the US market is Chile, but ISA has caused a major set back for salmon from the south. Instead it has opened new possibilities for Norwegian salmon exporters. The Export Council expects a growth in the Norwegian supply of salmon into the USA market from around 10 000 tons in 2008, to at least 60 000 tons in 2009. This will cover most of the shortage expected from Chile this year.
- We will use the money for market survelliance and a close cooperation with Norwegian seafood players that already are etablished in USA., says Børge Grønbech, marketing manager for salmon and trout in the Norwegian seafood Export Council.
