Marine Farms flags up cobia on website
The company introduced the premium Vietnamese farmed fish, which is similar to swordfish in texture and has a meaty taste, to the UK in April. Demand had been better than expected, particularly from the sushi trade, but awareness of cobia remained low, Carlos Massad, CEO of Marine Farms Vietnam told food and drinkthe Grocer. "Consumers, and indeed the food trade, need to know more about this brand new fish and the high standards to which it is produced," he told the news source. The new website provides information about cobia's nutritional profile as well as six recipes. Marine Farms this week announced it had decided to close its cobia farm in Belize, which had served the US. Supply to the UK and other European markets from other sites would be unaffected, it said.
