Australis Seafoods results down 118%
The company explains that this result responds to lower prices in the three salmonid species farmed in Chile which is caused by the strong increase experienced in the local salmon production. Moreover, Australis first quarter results this year were also affected by higher selling costs.
Likewise, the company obtained an EBITDA pre fair value adjustment of US$ -4.0 million which compares negatively with the result of Q1 2011 (US$ 18.3 million).
Australis Seafoods exported 10,435 tonnes of salmon products in Q1 2012 which represent a 26.3 percent increase compared to the 8,262 tonnes sold in the same period of the previous year.
