Spanish aquaculture trade fair grows for second edition
AquaFuture has established itself on calendar, says organiser
The second edition of an aquaculture trade fair to be held in Spain next month will have 10% more exhibitors and a 9% increase in exhibition space, its organiser has said.
AquaFuture Spain ’23, which will take place at the Feira Internacional de Galicia ABANCA venue near Santiago de Compostela, Galicia from March 28-30, will feature 160 companies from 24 countries. More than a third of exhibitors are from outside Spain.
A large outdoor space has been added to the exhibition area for large vessels and facilities.
Event director Juan Lijo said the AquaFuture Spain team had achieved their main objective of establishing the event on the international calendar.
The event includes a series of its technical conferences, which this year will focus on key aspects for the sustainability and growth of the aquaculture sector.
Plastics, finance, welfare
Yolanda Morales, from the Acuiplus Cluster, which is collaborating with AquaFuture organiser OK Events, said: “The field of plastics will be discussed and how its regulations are affecting the value chain.
“We will have a panel discussion on internationalisation and opportunities in other markets such as the Chilean and Moroccan markets.
“A specific discussion will be held on financing aquaculture both from the point of view of operations and from initiatives and innovation.
“The field of transport will also be addressed within the framework of traceability of products, and also the challenges within animal welfare.”
Cookery demos
This year’s event will also include the participation of the
Spanish Aquaculture Business Association (Apromar), which will hold a round
table discussion on the circular economy.
AquaFuture Spain will also repeat its cookery demonstrations programme, which attracted capacity audiences for all sessions last year and which will allow people to discover and enjoy dishes made with aquaculture products, from clams and mussels to trout, turbot, or algae.
