Both export volume and price of Norwegian salmon rose last week
The spot price of Norwegian farmed salmon rose by NOK 5.52/kg last week (week 47), up to NOK 82.14 (£6.09) per kilo.
That price was NOK 0.01 below the price in the same week last year, the first time in 11 weeks that the price has been lower – albeit by the lowest possible margin – than in the equivalent week in 2024.
The average price for the year is still well below 2024. It currently works out at NOK 75.97/kg, compared to NOK 92.98/kg for the same period last year.
Exports
Norway exported 34,987 tonnes of salmon (round weight) in week 47. This is around 500 tonnes (1.6%) more than the previous week. However, since it is also 1.8% above the same week a year ago, it can be stated that there has never been more exported in week 47 than in this year. This all-time high for a given week is a "prize" that it shares with many other weeks this year.
So far, Norway has exported 1.44 million tonnes of salmon in 2025. That is 13.3% more than during the same period last year, and the country is heading towards a clear annual record. The annual record was set in 2021, and will be broken by what is being exported this week.
Feed
As of week 45, 2 million tons of feed for salmon and trout had been sold in Norway, which is 8% more than at the same time last year.
The trend for the last four weeks (weeks 42-45) is up 2% compared to the same period in 2024.
