Scots salmon surf Parisian plateau
Scottish salmon prices have made an extremely encouraging start to the year, with HOG fish in the 2-3kg bracket consistently achieving €6.20/kg or more at Rungis for the first 11 weeks of the year.
Prices at the Paris market gradually rose until week 8, when they hit €6.50/kg – where they have now remained for four weeks in a row.
By comparison Norwegian salmon in the 3-4kg range have achieved prices ranging from €5.40 – 5.78 /kg in France, falling back to €5.70/kg for the last three weeks.
Meanwhile Scottish Label Rouge salmon have been fetching precisely €6.80/kg for 11 straight weeks.
