Norway salmon spot price stays above 2022 level

The spot price of Norwegian salmon, which rose by 30p per kilo two weeks ago, increased again last week but the price rise was much less dramatic.

Industry data provider Akvafakta said the spot price rose by NOK 0.77/kg in week 40, up to NOK 78.03/kg (£5.84). This price is NOK 10.42/kg above the same week last year.

The average spot price so far this year is NOK 95.41/kg, compared to NOK 84.52/kg during the same period last year.

Norway, the world’s biggest Atlantic salmon producing country, exported 35,161 tonnes (round weight) of fish last week. That is the highest weekly volume so far this year, but it is also 3.0% below the same week in 2022.

So far this year, Norway has exported 1.02 million tonnes of salmon, 2.9% less than in the same period last year.
