Modest drop in Norwegian spot price last week
The spot price of Norwegian salmon fell by NOK 1.07 (£0.08) per kilo last week (week 20), to NOK 98.73 per kilo. Although that’s a lot lower than the spot price of above NOK 120 per kilo seen in week 18, it’s still NOK 29.65 per kilo higher than in week 20 last year.
The average spot price so far this year is NOK 89.76 / kg, compared to the equivalent of NOK 57.20 / kg a year ago, according to statistic provider Akvafakta.
Part of the reason for the higher prices is lower volume.
Norway exported 20,121 tonnes (round weight) of salmon in week 20, which was 9.2% less than the same week in 2021.
So far, 485,000 tonnes have been exported by Norway, 7% less than at the same time last year.
