New boss for Young’s Seafood
Pork processor Karro Food Group has appointed Seachill boss Simon Smith as the new chief executive of Young’s Seafood, which is bought earlier this month.
Smith, has spent more than 30 years in the food sector and was behind the launch of the Saucy Fish Co brand in 2010, will start his new job on October 21.
He played a key role in the growth of the Saucy Fish Co brand both in the UK and overseas and oversaw several big supermarket contract wins by the supplier – including a major strategic partnership with Tesco in 2016.
Strong foundation
Young’s Seafood’s current chief executive, Bill Showalter, who will leave at the end of the month, said the time was now right to move on.
“With the acquisition by Karro, I am confident that Young’s has a strong foundation from which it can drive growth, providing exceptional-quality fish and standout innovation to countries around the world,” said Showalter.
