
New price record
For the first time in modern farming history the official price of Norwegian salmon exports has exceeded NOK 70 (£5.75) per kg.
According Akvafakta, salmon prices in week 24 rose by NOK 4.55, to reach NOK 74.03 (£6.03) per kg, setting a new record in the process.
The price is also NOK 34.46 above what it was at the same time last year – almost double what might have been considered a good price not too long ago.
In terms of volumes, exports during the previous week (week 23) totalled 18,540 tonnes –19.2% lower than last year.
So far this year 481,000 tonness, a decrease of 6.5%, have been exported by Norway.
