The volume of Atlantic salmon harvested in Chile is projected to increase by 5% this year to more than 800,000 tonnes (whole fish equivalent), according to sector statistics provider Datasalmon and aquaculture website Salmonexpert.cl.

The greatest volume increase is expected in the fourth quarter, when harvests are projected to be 11% higher than in Q4 2022. The volume for the full year will be 805,704 tonnes.

According to the information provided by Datasalmon and Salmonexpert.cl, which is a sister site of Fish Farming Expert, a continuous trend of increase in the production of Atlantic salmon can be observed for 2023 compared to 2022, albeit a modest increase of 0.2% in the third quarter.

“It can be concluded that the fourth quarter will be the best quarter in terms of production and percentage growth in the year,” the Business Outlook concluded.
