Bakkafrost harvested 21,600 gwt in Q1 this year

Bakkafrost harvested 21,600 gutted weight tonnes of salmon in the Faroes and Scotland in the first quarter of 2024, it said in a trading update.

Two-thirds – 14,300 gwt – were harvested in the Faroes: 4,600 gwt in the north region, 7,500 gwt in the west, and 2,200 gwt in the south.

The company harvested 7,300 gwt in Scotland: 4,000 gwt in the north region and 3,300 gwt in the south.

In the same period last year Bakkafrost harvested 11,005 gwt in the Faroes and 8,093 gwt in Scotland. The company expects to harvest 66,000 gwt in the Faroes this year and 25,000 gwt in Scotland.

Bakkafrost’s Faroes-based feed company, Havsbrún, sold 27,000 tonnes of feed in Q1 2024 and sourced 136,900 tonnes of raw materials.
