The CEO of Ventisqueros, Andrés Fletcher, commented that the crisis experienced by the Chilean salmon industry is already part of the past. He even forecasted a recovering process that would start this year.

According to the financial journal Diario Financiero, Fletcher revealed that his company plans to double its production by 2013. He further explained that in line with that growth plan, Ventisqueros will invest USD 4 million in a new smolt farm which is expected to sustain such increased production levels.

Regarding economic issues, he commented that the company –controlled by the German group Schoerghuber- will finance this growth plans with his own money. This scenario should be maintained at least up to the year 2013. However, he did not discard the chance of raising funds by either two ways, going public or including new shareholders directly.
