Ventisqueros expects strong production upturn in 2011
The general manager of the company, Andrés Fletcher, commented that Ventisqueros also expects to retake its production of Atlantic salmon next year. The company produced only Rainbow trout and King salmon in the last couple of years.
He is enthusiastic about the sanitary and biosecurity actions already taken by the industry although he recognized that it require some time before these measures produce results.
According to the financial journal Diario Financiero, Andrés Fletcher also stated that the sanitary situation was very hard to solve and, in that sense, the agreement and implementation of numerous sanitary measures between different players was a huge achievement. “Now we have one or two years in order to consolidate these practices,” he said, stressing all the implementation effort that this means for both, salmon producing companies and the surveillance and monitoring State services.
