Vaccination in August at the same level as 2011

Accumulated sales for the S0-2012 are 130.4 million doses in the period June-August compared to 128.6 million doses to S0-2011 in the same period. This might give an indication that this year´s production of S0s will end up close to last year´s production. Traditionally, we will see some vaccination of S0s also in September, but the largest fraction of vaccine sales usually goes to S1-vaccination. The total release of S0s-2011 ended at 127 million salmon smolts, an increase from 117 million smolts in 2010.It is important to be aware that vaccine sales in number of doses always exceed the number of smolts released to sea. However, total sales figures for vaccines have shown to be a good indicator to pick up essential changes in production.
