Using salmon feed ingredient leading Iditarod race
Immunocorp AS is lead sponsor of Team Norway, the Norwegian musher squad that takes part in famous annual Iditarod Trail Dog Sled Race in Alaska — called the "Last Great Race on Earth". The Iditarod trail starts in the Alaskan capital, Anchorage, and ends in Nome on the western Bering Sea coast. Each musher team has 12 to 16 dogs and covers more than 1,150 miles in 10 to 17 days. Teams leave the start line at two-minute intervals, with over 65 starting out and some years even more. The Iditarod’s official website (www.iditarod.com) explains that the trail had its beginnings as a mail and supply route from the coastal towns of Seward and Knik to the interior mining camps of Flat, Ophir and Ruby, and beyond to the west-coast communities of Unalakleet, Elim, Golovin, White Mountain and Nome. Mail and supplies went in and gold came out. Heroes were made and legends were born. In 1925, part of the trail became a life-saving highway for Nome, when an epidemic of diphtheria was threatening the coastal community and serum had to be brought in as quickly as possible by intrepid mushers and their faithful dogs.
