Two new management agreements for Argyll and Lochaber
This brings the total number of signed agreements to 18, and leaves only the Sound of Jura to complete full coverage in this the largest Region under the Tripartite Working Group (TWG) Programme. The new AMAs cover Loch Ailort and the coastal waters surrounding the Isle of Arran. Lucy Fry, TWG Regional Development Officer for the Region described the signings as hugely encouraging. “The Tripartite process is all about finding solutions to ensure the long-term health of wild and farmed salmon, so that each sector has a sustainable and successful future,” she said. “It’s backed by the Scottish Government as well as the salmon farming industry and the wild fish interests, but it is very encouraging that local parties continue to build trust and reach agreements for local solutions,” she added.
