Two new farming sites would be implemented nearby Punta Arenas
Christian Pérez Riverfish Ltd. expects to implement two new salmon farming sites in the estuary "Gómez Carreño" and in the river "Pérez de Arce", both located in the Río Verde district, in the Region of Magallanes. These projects imply the investment of US$ 10 million and US$ 6.2 million, respectively, intended to reach an aggregated annual production of 13,000 tonnes in 71 circular cages (40m diameter). According to the information provided by Acuícola Riverfish to the Environmental Impact Assessment System (SEIA), the company expects to produce at stocking densities of 7.3Kg/m3 and 11.5 Kg/m3 in each one of these sites, respectively. Several sources have stated that the Region of Magallanes (Magellan) is expected to produce around 100,000 tonnes of salmonids by 2016.
