Tornagaleones to invest US$ 3 million in new freshwater facility
This freshwater site would operate with a flow-through water system and it is expected to produce 4 batches per year of 1.6 million smolts each. This amount of fish represents a biomass of close to 700 tonnes of fish per year in this site.
According to the information provided by GMT to the Environmental Impact Assessment System (SEIA), this project involves farming three salmonid species: Atlantic salmon, Coho salmon and Rainbow trout.
The company is going to invest US$ 3 million in this facility and expects to start building this plant in January 2012.
