The ISA update for Chile’s first semester
SERNAPESCA’s monitoring and control measures to mitigate the spread of ISA include a monthly report on each geographic area under quarantine and the status of each farm within these areas. In the latest report one new company was added (Salmones Humboldt), and two companies previously listed as suspected are now confirmed as having an outbreak of the disease (Cultivos Marinos Chiloé and Multiexport). On a more positive note seven farm sites have been removed from the Outbreak classification since they have completed their rest period following the elimination of the fish. Below is an illustration the number of farms per company that have an ISA outbreak, are suspected of having the virus, or under quarantine and still testing negative. The generalized view shows that the total number of reported affected sites has increased from 71 to 77.
