Test for HSMI now available in Chile
Although the HSMI has not been detected in Chile yet, the company believes that this severe and highly contagious emerging disease is spreading throughout the salmon producing countries due to the commercialization of eggs and fish.
According to Aquainnovo, their researchers have implemented a RT-PCR (Real-time polymerase chain reaction) essay, which is in line with the constant needs for surveillance and control in the local salmon industry to prevent and timely restrain those pathogen agents still absent in Chile that may put the Chilean salmon production recovery at risk.
