Success for fish farming companies at 2009 Seafood Awards
The bi-annual event was created in 2005 to recognise excellence and promote sustainable practice across the seafood industry. There were more than 170 entries in the fourteen award categories – a testament to the innovation and determination to win that exists in this industry. The aquaculture industry was also well represented: The Aquaculture Producers Award wernt to Marine Harvest (Scotland) Ltd, Inverness-shire, ScotlandThe Training and Development (Processing) Award was given to Louise Matheson from Aquascot Ltd, Ross-shire, Scotland. M&J Seafoods, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, England, was granted the Sustainable Futures Award.Waitrose Limited became multiple Seafood Retailer of the Year Seafood Retailer. Rob Green of Green’s of Whitby, England, got the Seafood Chef of the Year Award.The Best New Seafood Product Award- oil rich fish was awarded to Marks and Spencer “Raw Scottish Lochmuir Salmon with soy, ginger and lime, The Seafood Company.”An Outstanding Contribution to Industry Award was given to Tim Oliver, the Editor of trade magazine Fishing News.
