Strong quarter for MH Chile too
In terms of production volumes, the company harvested 16,425 tonnes of salmonids in the period, accumulating a total of 34,166 tonnes of whole fish gutted in the first half of this year, Marine Harvest Chile reports.
Roberto Riethmüller, general manager of Marine Harvest Chile, is optimistic about this performance and attributed these good results to the productive strategy being implemented by the company. "We are satisfied. Our production model has allowed our fish to achieve growth rates above expectations, low mortalities and improvements in the feed conversion rate, which allows us to compensate for increases in the price of fish feed," he said.
As for the outlook for the rest of the year, Mr Riethmüller expects these good results to be maintained and achieve an annual production of around 65,000 tonnes of gutted whole fish by December this year.
Regarding sanitary issues, the abundances of Caligus still remain as a constant concern and the costs of its control remained high. However, during the course of the second quarter, the sea lice abundances showed a significant decrease compared to last year, the general manager of Marine Harvest Chile said.
