Stable vaccine sales

In May total sales of vaccines to salmon ended at 4.8 million doses compared to 9.2 million doses in May 2011. Based on total sales of vaccines, this indicates a slight reduction in total release of S1- 2012 compared to last year’s release ending close to154 million smolt. Vaccination of S1- 2012 started in September 2011 and 16 million vaccine doses in September are calculated as vaccination of S1s-2012. Total sales of vaccine doses will never give an exact picture of the actual number of smolt released, but it has proven to be a strong indicator. There is always some uncertainty related to the split in vaccination of S0s compared to S1s in September, and if any vaccine ordered in May, is intended for S0-vaccination starting in June. Additional factors are also the possibility of un-used vaccine and the variation in loss rate between generations in the period from vaccination to smolt release.In May, sales of the PD-vaccine were 2.7 million doses. On an annual basis the sales of PD-vaccine are now at 98.8 million vaccine doses. The similar figure for ISA-vaccines are 5.2 million doses.There were no sales of vaccines for farmed cod this month and the twelve months’ rolling sales are 2.5 million doses.
