Smoked salmon still on the rise
Chile is the leading exporter of smoked salmon to the United States, and according to the latest stat reports from the U. S. National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Chile shipped a total of 1,925 tons of smoked salmon to the States in 2008, valuing at US$ 26 million. That is a 17% increase in volume and a 23% increase in revenue compared to the year prior.
As for the total of the United States smoked salmon imports, the country imported 3,508 tons at a total price of over US$ 53 million.
